Oh yes, the weekly budget meeting! 😱 We try to make ours fun with treaty chocolate or cake or something similar, and always a pot of tea. Btw I'd love to see more about your vegetable garden later in the year (26 garden areas?! Wow, you've got your work cut out there!).
Chocolate cake is a good idea! Anything to cheer it up a bit. I’ll definitely do some more posts from the garden. I’m not sure I’ll ever get all the areas sorted but a few would be good! 😊
Are English gardens often that big? Are these garden sections previously used, or a planned extension? Will the gardens be floral only or floral and crops? Finally, will you have your apiary or are local bees enough to get the job done? Best, JW
Hi John, thanks for the questions. It's not unusual for English gardens to be this size. In times gone by it would have been run as a smallholding and they would have produced most of their own food. The gardens closest to the house are of a more formal style with flower beds, shrubs and specimen trees. These were designed for walking around and showing off. There would've been more flower beds than there are now but we still have some of them and of course the trees. The kitchen garden has a cut flower area that would've grown flowers for the house and church so both. We actually have quite a lot of bees, they've been a bit of a problem to be honest. They've built hives in the walls of the house that had to be removed and we have to be careful that they don't nest in the chimneys. Last year they nested high up in the sycamore tree which was perfect and I hope they stay there! Eventually, I'd like a hive for honey but I don't think we necessarily need it for pollination.
I love the white paint inside the top of the cabinets in the bedroom. It compliments the wood and dark green color so well.
I love your style Amanda. You are an amazing woman!
I am enjoying everything you post. Thank you for sharing your life and home with us. 🙂
Thank you so much Karin that’s very lovely of you to say 😁
